crocheted katamari

Katamari Damacy is probably one of the best games ever invented. In it, you are an adorable little prince with a crazy father, and you are trying to rebuild the cosmos by making stars out of katamaris. The katamaris are these balls that pick up anything they roll over that is small enough, and the bigger your katamari gets, the more you can pick up, until eventually your katamari is big enough to form a star. Rolling it around and picking up oodles of items is somehow incredibly satisfying.

I've spent many hours rolling around katamaris, so when I saw this pattern on ravelry I was like 'saweeeeeeeeeeet'. I ordered some neodymium magnets from a shop I found on etsy. These magnets are so strong! Through the yarn tho I used 2 or 3 in each nub for them to pick up heavier things. Here is my katamri:

and with stuff:

This one is for Matek. I'm planning on making one for myself as well, I think I'll use it for holding sewing needles and whatnot. I am a little worried aobut the magnets and my computer but I'll just not store them too close.

My lord how i love my beautiful katamari. I will begin rebuilding the cosmos starting with my fridge which is where the katamari is currently residing.
