ribbed toques

I have recently been on a major crochet kick. For christmas I made my brother a toque where I used 2 back and 3 front post double crochet (bpdc and fpdc) for a ribbed effect. The toque was super thick and stretchy.

Here's my bro in the Queen Charlotte Islands, he said the toque was really warm and great for fishing up north in the winter:

a closer view of the toque:

I decided to make my friend Richard a simliar toque out of the same yarn, but rather than crocheting it, I returned to my old friend knitting this time. For the ribbing I did knit 2, purl 1. He was kind enough to take a photo of the finished product in action:

The knit toque was a lot less bulky than the crochet one.

You can also see some of my boyfriend's artwork in the background there... pretty great eh?

I must say, I really do enjoy a nice ribbed toque. They are super stretchy, and if you make them long enough to fold up the brim, they will really fit almost any head nicely. And if you want to be super stylish you could always unfold the brim and wear it all slouchy like the cool kids are doing these days!!

Richard here, I absolutely love the toque featured in this blog post that Margaret made for me. I wear it pretty much every day out here in Winterpeg. Thank You Margaret for the wonderful gift.

Yes, not ALL the cool kids are wearing it slouchy. Just some of them.

And thank you Richard for your lovely comment. I'm glad you are enjoying the toque.

OOooooo an expansion on the previous post, fascinating technology that. Now you can keep the ribbed touque content together. Tell me this, if you update a blog entry and newer ones are in front of it, does that bring that entry being updated up to the top? I think this would be a critical feature.

I have no idea... maybe? It kept the same old date though. Maybe you would have to copy all the old content into a new post, then delete the old post. Dun dun dun!!!

Or, when you edit the post, you can just go into the post options and change the date to the current one.
